I just tried out the demake of this for pico-8 (https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=83042#p), and I found it to be a really interesting version of the game. One idea that developer had was to implement an arrow that would indicate which way a falling block would fall and/or split if you were not dropping it directly onto a grid space. This did actually solve the only real gameplay issue I was having with the main game. I am able to naturally intuit which way a block will probably fall, but if I'm trying to play a bit more deliberately I spend probably more time than necessary trying to figure it out. At lower speeds it's fine, but once you start to ramp up the speed, it becomes something you don't really have time to consider, potentially leading to more mistakes. Just wondering this was a feature you had considered or not.
